MODEL OF MONUMENT TO DESERT ANS SEA, AND LOST CIVILIZATION

The image shows a model and illustrates the current idea of my future project, which is a site-specific installation made from 'bricks', approximately 10 times bigger than the normal ones, ideally constructed in a place where desert and sea meet together, like Nabib Desert in Africa. It is also intended to be a music instrument with wind and waves generating sound through the holes in the bricks, a kind of natural music.

I am interested in artists like Robert Smithson, Carl Andre, Richard Long, Walter de Maria, Richard Serra, Nancy Holt, James Turrell and (regarding painting) Anselm Kiefer and Antoni Tapies. The references for the work in general are Marcel Duchamp, Jack Derrida and Jean Baudrillard (theory), John Cage (ambient sound), the ideas of chance, simulacra, fragmentation, instability, fragility of existence, relationship between nature and culture, ecological and mystical ideas.
